U.S. gives rice to boost relief
efforts for Typhoon Yolanda survivors

U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines Philip S. Goldberg said
during the turnover of 1,500 metric tons of rice in Cebu City: “Today, the U.S-sourced
rice that I am turning over to the WFP to aid DSWD’s relief and life-saving
efforts, signify once again the commitment of the American people to be a
partner in rebuilding the lives affected by the super typhoon.”
The food assistance was part of the 5,000 metric tons of rice
announced by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry during his visit to Tacloban in
December 2013.
