Delightful Treats for SM’s Grandparents’ Day

To us Filipinos, our Lolos and Lolas are like our second parents, we all have a  special memory being taken care of our grandparents that is why Grandparents’ day deserve to be celebrated in the grandest fashion. It is the least we can do in return for the unconditional love they gave us.
Anywhere in the Philippines, Filipino elders are entitled to benefits and privileges under RA 9994 and RA 10645, which include 20% discounts on purchases of goods and services, 5% on prime commodities and basic necessities, and 5% on utilities like electricity and water. On top of this, over a million belonging to the impoverished sector receive assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development under its Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens program.
Here in SM, a weeklong mall festivities for the seniors and their families are held in the mall and SM Cares thru the Employee Volunteerism Program conducts outreach programs for the elderly members of the community. Every year, SM holds special celebrations for senior citizens through the “Serve More Love for the Elderly” project. Employees of SM San Pablo spent a meaningful Saturday morning with the elderly of Bahay Nazareth Pagibig in San Pablo City, Laguna.

Aside from spending a fun-filled day with the elderly, volunteers also shared their blessings through giving goods and sharing a meal with the Lolos and Lola’s. The bahay Nazareth is a home for the aged for the abandoned, sick and dying and SM City San Pablo is privilege to have been able to pay it forward.
