Another High-Ranking CTG Leader Arrested in Laguna

 

CAVINTI, Laguna – Joint Law Enforcement Operation conducted by the PNP and AFP units led to the arrest of a sub-regional staff of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee at Brgy Burgos, Pakil, Laguna, yesterday, June 11, 2022.

The arrested top-ranking communist terrorist personality is identified as Vertudes D Macapanpan, GONZALES alias LOLA KITS/TYAN/TIAN/LOLA/MARSHA/DAISY/DITS. The arrest was made by virtue of an arrest warrant with Criminal Case No. 2943-I for the offense of Rebellion issued by Presiding Judge Arnelo C Mesa of Regional Trial Court, Branch 65 in Infanta, Quezon dated May 23, 2008 and a revised version dated March 4, 2013.

According to her fellow comrades who already surrendered to the government, she was responsible for the conduct of Party Courses and other mass orientations to radicalize the youths, students, other vulnerable sectors such as the indigenous peoples in some parts of Quezon thereby enticing them to join the communist terrorist group (CTG) particularly the New Peoples Army. She was also responsible for transporting and encouraging indigenous people from General Nakar, Quezon to join rallies in Manila several times since 2012.

Brigadier General Cerilo C Balaoro Jr, Commander, 202nd Infantry Brigade lauded the government forces for another successful joint law enforcement operation. “The arrest of a high-ranking CPP-NPA personality in Southern Tagalog Region is a clear manifestation that the government’s sustained and intensified effort to end local communist armed conflict is gaining ground. The series of neutralization of CTG leaders will result to snowball of surrenders among their members which is one of the key components in ending this decades-long insurgency”.

He once again called the few remaining CTG leaders to better lay down their arms and turn themselves in peacefully and be with their family.

It can be recalled that on May 31, 2022, a CPP Central Committee Member and a National Education Department staff were arrested by joint AFP-PNP elements at Greenwood Heights, Subdivision, Brgy Paliparan 1, Dasmarinas City, Cavite
