A Partnership in Full Bloom with DOLE and DepEd Thru TUPAD

A different kind of “Brigada” has transformed schools in Nagcarlan and Alaminos, Laguna as more than 220 beneficiaries worked on a gardening and tree planting project under the TulongPanghanapbuhaysaAting Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers of the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office IV-A, through its Laguna Provincial Office (DOLE-LPO).

Around Fifty(50) TUPAD beneficiaries were deployed at the PoncianoAlzona Elementary School in Alaminos, Laguna, assigned to cultivate the school’s garden areas. Teachers were delighted to see how the project would turn out. Ms. Lolita G. Banzuela has extended her appreciation to DOLE LPO Provincial Director, Guido R. Recio, for making the project possible. “It was a fruitful partnership that brought the community together.” Ms. Banzuela remarked.

Gardening and tree planting are only among the several projects that can be undertaken through the program. DOLE LPO Senior Labor and Employment Officer and TUPAD Focal, Ms. Lorena M. Gacosta, has been presenting several options such as social, economic, and agroforestry community projects.

With the positive feedback from school heads, there is a good chance that some other schools would follow suit. This might be the start of the blooming partnership between DOLE and the DepEd through the TUPAD program.
