The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will hold on Tuesday, November 17, the regional level finals of the Tanghalang Pangmamimili at the Events Center of SM City Dasmariñas in Cavite .
The Tanghalang Pangmamimili, formerly the Dulaang Pangmamimili, is a competition of plays among high-school students that dramatizes consumer issues as a vehicle for consumer advocacy and consumer education jointly organized by the Department of Trade and Industry, SM City Malls, and Jollibee.
Marilou Quinco-Toledo, DTI Calabarzon Regional Director, said the Tanghalan competition in the provincial and regional levels has evolved to become Calabarzon's medium to increase awareness on consumer issues besides being an entertaining and an effective form for consumer education and advocacy.
Felizardo Cupit, chief of the Calabarzon consumer protection division, said that with this year’s theme “Consumer Protection in the ASEAN Economic Community”, the entries are expected to tackle different perspectives of consumer issues in the light of the Asean Economic Integration.
According to Director Noly Guevara of the DTI Cavite Provincial Office that will host the event, the ‘Tanghalan’ aims to educate and develop a strong consumer base particularly the students and other youth sectors to advocate on the rights and responsibilities of consumer and its redress.
Winners of the competition including citations for best director, best script, best actor/actress and best supporting actor/actress will receive trophies, medals and gift certificates.(Charlie S. Dajao/DTI Calabarzon/Ronda Balita)
