The partnership between Magna Kultura Foundation and the South Luzon Region League (SLRL) to establish satellite schools for the Academy for Sari-Sari Stores Enterprise Training (ASSET) in CALABARZON is a significant step towards uplifting small retailers and empowering them with essential trading skills.
ASSET, founded by Magna Kultura Foundation in 2010, aims to support sari-sari store owners by equipping them with the necessary skills to thrive in the online selling ecosystem. With the SLRL's collaboration, the federation of cooperatives in Southern Luzon will play a crucial role in operating the satellite schools in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon provinces. This is especially significant considering the large number of sari-sari stores in the region, estimated to be around 285,000 or more.
Under this partnership, sari-sari store owners will have the opportunity to become ASSET scholars and receive comprehensive training to enhance their trading capabilities. By gaining knowledge in various areas such as marketing, inventory management, financial literacy, and e-commerce, these small retailers can improve their business operations and effectively participate in the online marketplace.
The establishment of satellite schools in CALABARZON signifies a commitment to local economic development and the empowerment of micro-entrepreneurs. It is an excellent initiative that will contribute to the growth and sustainability of small businesses in the region. (Joel Cabactulan)
