Social Security System
(SSS) members who are seeking employment in Taiwan can now present either
the SSS 2D. Barcode ID Card or the SSS Certification of Unified Multi-Purpose
ID (UMID) Card processing until January 2016 to comply with the
requirements for a Taiwanese working visa, pending the release of their
UMID cards.
The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in the Philippines has agreed to accept SSS 2D Barcode ID Card or the SSS Certification of UMID Card Processing as an alternative to the SSS UMID Card.
Members who applied from November 7, 2015 onwards or those with earlier applications that had passed fingerprint investigation can request for certifications of application for the UMID Card at the time of card application.
As consideration, the liaison officer of the member’s recruitment agency will be allowed to request the
certifications on their behalf.
SSS certifications will be released at the SSS branch located in the Philippine Overseas and Employment
Administration (POEA) after five working days.
The production of UMID cards is currently experiencing delay due to the ongoing public bidding for the acquisition of UMID card printing services.
Members can inquire on the production of their UMID cards with the nearest SSS branch or email the SSS ID Card Production Department at idcpd@sss.gov.ph.
