Alaminos Armed Encounter, another "Back to Basics" success story


Police Senior Inspector Reynaldo Nieva Vitto, Alaminos Chief of Police and PO2 Clover Joey Omaweng Dorencio both were awarded ‘Medalya ng Papuri’ by PCSUPT Ronald V Santos, OIC, PRO4A assisted by Regional Chief Directorial Staff PSSUPT Bernabe M Balba.
            Camp Vicente Lim – Elements of Alaminos Police Station were conferred ‘Medalya ng Papuri’ during the Monday Flag Raising Ceremony held today in this camp.

            Police Senior Inspector Reynaldo Nieva Vitto, Alaminos Chief of Police and PO2 Clover Joey Omaweng Dorencio both were awarded ‘Medalya ng Papuri’ for the successful arrest of the suspect involved in the shooting incident wherein the victim was one Joel Valencia Monzones, 51 yrs old, driver body guard of Board Member Lorenzo Zuniga of the 3rd District of Laguna happened on or about 9:30 AM of April 19, 2016 at Del Pilar St., Brgy. 4 Poblacion, Alaminos, Laguna.

Initial Investigation disclosed that the victim while standing beside the road infront of 7-11 Convenient Store was approached by the suspect identified as Luis Torres a.k.a. Tomoy, Chief, BPSO of Brgy San Andres Alaminos  who was then armed with Cal. 45 pistol and shot the former hitting him on his head and died on the spot. Thereafter, suspect run away but was immediately chased by PO2 Clover Joey Dorencio, PO1 Ernesto Salvador, PO3 darwilito Chavez, PO1 Florante Murillo and PO1 Roy Navarette all were beat patrollers of Alaminos Police Station.

Fire fight ensued after the suspect started to open fire against the chasing police officers. Elements of Alaminos station hit the suspect on the left side of his body and was rushed to the Pagamutang Panlalawigan ng Laguna then transferred to San Pablo City Medical Center for medical treatment. Recovered from the possession of the suspect was one (1) Cal. 45  with one (1) magazine loaded with three (3) live ammunition.

Earlier in February this year, police officers of Sta. Cruz in Laguna were engaged in a shootout with bank robbers of Phil. National Bank in Brgy. Poblacion of said municipality that resulted in the killing of two (2) suspects and arrest of two (2) others. Other suspects were arrested in a pursuit operation in Nagcarlan minutes after the incident when Nagcarlan police was able to set up checkpoint in their area after they have known the incident. The responding police officers of Sta. Cruz were situated along the streets conducting foot patrol. Thereby, they were able to respond immediately.


PRO4A Officer-In-Charge PCSUPT Ronald V Santos lauded the heroic act of the Police Officers of Alaminos citing the significance of OPLAN Lambat-Sibat Operations and police presence/patrolling in their areas of responsibility. “This is the main thrust of our Chief, PNP, PDG Ricardo C Marquez, this is what he mean by "Back to Basics" which is Patrolling.
