DTI awards a certificate of turnover to the Covenant Community Service Cooperative (CCSC)

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will award the Shared Service Facility (SSF) Certificate of Turnover to the Covenant Community Service Cooperative (CCSC) on Friday, April 01, 2016, at the Carmona Elementary School along Purificacion Street , Poblacion 8, Carmona, Cavite .
 
Founded in March 1, 2010, CCSC is a Christian organization that provides local communities with trainings to develop the skills needed in construction and site development projects. Its core programs include professional staff services, worker's guild development, enterprise development, and consultancy services.
 
In 2012, it engaged into garments manufacturing producing ladies’ wear and denim trousers. Currently, it employs 3,161 workers.
 
The SSF granted to the cooperative in February consisted of 40 units of lockstitch, 5-thread overlock, buttonhole and bartack machines valued at PHP5.5-million. It will upgrade its existing facility and will increase productivity, correspondingly to  increase sales and incomes.
 
The current production volume of 6.7-milion pieces valued at USD65.61-million will be increased to 7.34-million pieces and USD71.5-million, respectively.
 
With the increased productivity, the cooperative will capture more of the existing United States market, and Europe .
 
The project will support the smaller manufacturing units in the apparel sector, mostly referred to as subcontractors or cooperatives.
 
As of December 2015, the government through DTI has provided to the Province of Cavite a total of 22 SSFs particularly for coffee roasting, pineapple processing, and packaging costing P14.07 million, and benefiting 179 users and 74 suppliers.
 
Four additional SSFs will be provided until June 2016, including the SSF for the garment industry in Carmona, Cavite .(Charlie S. Dajao/DTI Calabarzon)
