To help protect the interest and welfare of
the consumers, the Department of Trade and Industry, in collaboration with DTI-recognized
industry associations, conducted a two-day market monitoring activity in the
Province of Laguna on May 25 - 26, 2017. Hardware, ceramic tile, and flat glass
stores were monitored and inspected.
Likewise, campaign for the extensive
awareness on the Republic Act No. 4109,
otherwise known as Law on Product Standards and DTI's Department Administrative
Order No. 2, Series of 2007, was done.
DTI warned business establishments to refrain
from selling uncertified and substandard products.
DTI-recognized industry associations such as Flat
Glass Alliance of the Philippines, Inc., Ceramic Tile Manufacturers, Inc.,
Philippine Electric and Wires Manufacturers, Inc., Philippine Steelmakers
Association, Inc., and Steel Angles- Shapes & Section Manufacturer’s Association
of the Philippines, Inc. served as technical experts on the said joint
monitoring.
Pursuant to the Republic Act No. 7394 (RA
7394) or the Consumer Act of the Philippines, DTI is a national agency that
protects the interest of the consumers and implement measures to achieve
protection against deceptive, unfair, and unconscionable sales acts and
practices. The Department regularly conducts enforcement and market
surveillance activities and urges consumers to ensure their safety by
patronizing only products that meet quality standards.
Consumers can rely on the DTI’s commitment to
closely monitor fair trade laws to avoid compromising consumers’ safety from
establishments that sell uncertified, inferior, or substandard products.
