From poisoning and injuring marine life to disrupting the eco system, from littering our beaches and landscapes to clogging our waste streams and landfills, the exponential growth of plastics is now threatening the survival of our planet.
In response, Earth Day was held in SM City San Pablo last April 22nd thru SM Cares, in partnership with Earth Day Network Philippines and DENR. The event focused on fundamentally changing human attitude and behavior about plastics and catalyzing a significant reduction in plastic pollution.
Earth Day is one of the initiatives of SM Supermalls which encouraged shoppers to exchange their trash for cash knows as the Trash to Cash Campaign. This aims to educate and mobilize citizens across the country to control and diminish plastic pollution and be well informed and take personal responsibility for the plastic pollution that each one of us generates by choosing to reduce, refuse, reuse, recycle and remove plastics.
In sum, SM City San Pablo supporting the power of Earth Day campaign to elevate the issue of pollution in the global agenda and inspiring and demanding effective action in reducing and controlling the pollution involving from each and every one of us.
