Mark your calendars on November 12 – 14 as the Department of Science and Technology – CALABARZON (DOST-CALABARZON) will bring to you its 2018 Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) at Lucena City, Quezon and Antipolo City, Rizal.

Following the theme of “Science for the People: Innovation for Collective Prosperity”, DOST-CALABARZON will showcase the extent of Science, Technology, and Innovation programs and services given to our community-based partners, MSMEs, and countryside in general through exhibits and fora.

One of the highlights of this celebration is the inauguration of our newly-built Quezon Provincial S&T Center (PSTC) Building at Southern Luzon State University – Lucena Campus and Rizal PSTC Building at University of Rizal System – Antipolo Campus. In each PSTC, a Service Laboratory will also be established: Center for Hazard and Environmental Resource Mapping (CHERM) Laboratory in Quezon and Regional Design and Creativity Hub for Innovation in MSMEs and Education (RDCHIME) Laboratory in Rizal.

This 3-day event will feature S&T exhibits from various DOST agencies, private organizations, academe, and MSMEs at Quezon Convention Center, Lucena City, Quezon. Some of the technologies to be featured include Mobile Planetarium, DIWATA, Augmented Reality and Storm Surge Simulator, Therapeutic Handloom, 3D Printer, Nipa Distilled Spirit Processing, Makapuno Island Products, and Travelling Exhibits of the Philippine Science Centrum, among others. Aside from the interactive exhibits, DOST-CALABARZON will bring you different fora and activities that will surely make science more interesting for you and become more aware of our programs and projects. These include the Symposium on Hazard and Environmental Resource Mapping, Philippine Science High School Regional Quiz Contest, Forum on Commodity-based Processing towards Sustainable Communities, Forum on Bridging MSMEs towards Industrialization through Automation, RDCHIME Forum, Seminar-Forum on Food Safety and Advancement in Agriculture, and Awareness Seminar on Halal Food and Products.

You want more? We’ll bring you more! True to its core of being the prime mover of S&T solutions in the CALABARZON Region, we are going to launch the following during the opening ceremony: DOST-CALABARZON Communication Plan (as an address to the communication gaps identified), DARIUS Project (harmonization of information systems in DOST system), and Makapuno Island Products (as support to the establishment of the Makapuno Island project). A ceremonial handover of Tsunami Early Warning System (TEWS) to LGU Jomalig, LGU Panukulan, and LGU Calauag and MOA signing for the future beneficiaries of this device will also happen.

As a way of giving back to our clients, we will be recognizing the Best SETUP and CBP Adoptors in CALABARZON who have been dedicated to improve their firms with the help of our programs. Our exhibit centerpiece will highlight the best products of the best SETUP adoptor’s winners.

Simultaneous with the activities happening in Quezon, there will be a Launching and Turnover of Infra Audit Protocol Manual to DILG IV-A, Ceremonial Turnover of SENTRY to LGU Antipolo, MOA Signing on Micro Hydro Assessment of Hinulugang Taktak, and Graduation of 3D Animation Students that will be conducted in Antipolo, Rizal.
