BATSTATEU CHAMPIONS FIRST KIST PARK

BATANGAS City. Batangas State University is set to launch the Philippines’ first Knowledge, Innovation and Science Technology (KIST) Park. Adjacent to the university’s Pablo Borbon Main Campus II in Brgy. Alangilan, the park will provide easy access to research facilities and high-value intellectual capital. Developed by BatStateU through local funds and Private-Public Partnerships, the KIST Park will offer startup incubation, patent services, and technical support on product development.

Collaboration between academe and business locators is well within reach with the Science, Technology, Engineering and Environment Research (STEER) Hub. The first building to open within the IT park, it will be home to BatStateU’s Center for Technopreneurship and Innovation, LIKHA FabLab—the university’s Manufacturing Research Center, and will have spaces for lease to tech entrepreneurs. These facilities are among many that will enhance research and development capabilities and enable future business locators to contribute to the Philippine innovation landscape.

Other park structures that will be available to locators are the Technology Hub, Design and Innovation Building, Information Technology Centrum, Data Center, Convention Center, and KIST Hotel. Leading the architectural development, Palafox Associates brings in contemporary aesthetics and adapts green building design to make the country’s pioneer IT park an ideal space for cutting-edge innovation.

President Rodrigo Duterte signed Proclamation No. 947 on May 22, 2020, making this the first Information Technology Park registered by PEZA that is anchored on a university. BatStateU KIST Park will be launching via Zoom app with live stream on YouTube and Facebook Live on July 20, 2020.

Batangas State University is a Level IV state university in the CALABARZON region, and the only SUC in the country accredited by the US Accrediting Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) for its Engineering and Information Technology programs. It is rated 3 stars in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) list of top universities.
