The
CALABARZON Regional Development Council (RDC) through its Regional Research and
Innovation Committee (RRIC) conducted the Virtual Oral Presentation and
Evaluation of research papers from August 26-28 and September 1 & 2 as a
preliminary of the 6th CALABARZON Research, Statistics, and Innovation (RSI)
Forum that will be held on October 15, 2020.
A total of 60 researchers presented their papers for the final evaluation. These 60 papers classified under environment, social, and agriculture sectors were initially screened from 257 and then down to 103 entries. The entries came from the academe, public and private research institutions, and different consortia. Around 340 participants viewed the 5-day virtual oral presentations and garnered a total of 5,274 post engagements. Such initiative helps in showcasing the significant findings of research studies as well as promoting research culture in the region.
The oral presentations were evaluated by the panel of judges from different government agencies namely Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region IV-A, Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region IV-A, Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Office IV-A, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) - CALABARZON, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) IV-A, Department of Science and Technology (DOST) CALABARZON, Department of Health (DOH) CALABARZON, Department of Education (DepEd) IV-A, and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 4A.
This year’s CALABARZON RSI Forum’s theme is “Bridging Research and Innovation towards CALABARZON’s Sustainable and Inclusive Development”. The RDC-RRIC conducts the RSI Forum biennially in search of papers that support the development of the following sectors: Industry, Social, Environment and Natural Resources, Infrastructure, and Agriculture.
Presentation and evaluation of the scientific posters will happen on September 21-25 via Zoom and Facebook Live in DOST-CALABARZON page as DOST-CALABARZON heads the paper evaluation committee. The posters will also be uploaded on DOST-CALABARZON’s facebook page for the viewer’s choice award. Winners of the oral presentation, poster presentation, and viewer’s choice will be awarded on October 15, 2020. (Myrrh Caithlin L. Gutierrez)
