With the advancement of technology, the average life span of gadgets and electronics are shortened thus producing more electronic waste. Unlike the other waste types, e-waste requires proper recycling and disposal as it contains hazardous chemicals that are detrimental to humans and the environment.
SM Supermalls, through the SM Cares Program on Environment and supported by SM Cyberzone, is launching its Electronic Waste Collection (EWC) Program. This corporate social responsibility and sustainability initiative encourages mall shoppers, communities, and individuals to bring their old gadgets and other e-waste for proper disposal by accredited hazardous waste collection partners.
Acceptable e-waste includes old or broken mobile phones, mobile phone chargers, power cords, commercial batteries, earphones/earbuds, calculators, printer ink and toner cartridges, small gadgets, and computer wiring, among others.
Electronic waste bins are located at the Cyberzone area of SM City Calamba, SM City San Pablo and SM City Sta Rosa.
Together, let us promote a sustainable living.
