ELEAZAR TASKS PNP INTELLIGENCE GROUP, OTHER UNITS TO CONDUCT BACKGROUND CHECK VS. PERSONS INVOLVED IN ROBBERY, KIDNAPPING

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar tasked the Intelligence Group and other concerned police offices and units to conduct an extensive background check against those wanted personalities who have been involved in robbery and kidnapping incidents. PGen Eleazar said the move is to prevent erring political aspirants from using these individuals to raise funds for the coming national and local elections. “I have already directed all the chiefs of police and our Intelligence Group to conduct intense background check on all the wanted persons and other individuals in their respective watchlist who have been involved in robberies of banks, pawnshops and other business establishments and even in kidnapping-for-ransom activities,” PGen Eleazar said. PGen Eleazar’s directive came after two suspects in the bank robbery at Chinabank Otis, identified as truck driver Carel Macarine, 32 and truck helper Ryan Sale, 28, were arrested by authorities. Another suspect remains at large and is being sought by police agents, according to the Chief PNP. Investigation is also ongoing into the incident. Meanwhile, PGen Eleazar also said the PNP is already coordinating with the Bureau of Corrections to heighten their measures to prevent those convicted leaders and members of kidnapping syndicates and robbery groups to continue their lawless acts and be of service to politicians.
