Senate Committee on Finance Chairman, Senator Sonny Angara, advised the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) to consider including their requested budget of P1 billion for the electricity supply of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminals in the upcoming 2024 National Budget.
Angara emphasized the crucial importance of the airport infrastructure, making it imperative for it to be incorporated into the administration's 2024 National Expenditure Program (NEP).
According to Angara, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) still has ample time to address this matter as the submission of the NEP follows the State of the Nation Address (SONA) by President Ferdinand Bong Bong Marcos Jr.
Furthermore, Angara explained that if the need is urgent, the MIAA's request could also be allocated through a supplemental budget.
The administration can also tap into its savings to fulfill the MIAA's request for additional power supply in the NAIA terminals.
