REGIONAL HIGHWAY PATROL UNIT 4A SET UP PREVENTIVE MEASURES THROUGH DISTRIBUTION AND POSTING OF PASSENGER ADVISORY SAFETY TIPS ON ALL BUSES PLYING ALONG CALABARZON TO PREEMPT THE OCCURRENCE OF SIMILAR INCIDENTS THAT TRANSPIRED INSIDE VICTORY LINER.
Regional Highway Patrol Unit 4A, Camp BGen Vicente P Lim – The Department of Transportation (DOTr) will intensify Security measures following the fatal and brazen shooting of two passengers inside a bus bound for Manila in Nueva Ecija on Wednesday, November 17, 2023.
In a statement on Thursday, the DOTR said an immediate security audit has been recommended to the Transport Secretary, Jaime Bautista to ensure the safety of commuters in the upcoming Christmas holiday rush. Part of the security measures includes the installation of surveillance cameras inside terminals and even on buses to monitor passengers’ movement.
In response to DOTr, the HPG4A being the Guardians of the Highway, under the leadership of PCOL ROMMEL C ESTOLANO immediately conducted simultaneous distribution and posting of passengers safety advisory sticker in the entire CALABARZON Bus and Terminals to prevent any criminalities like the shooting incident inside Victory Liners. By posting hotline number inside passenger bus, the companies/employees and passengers can quickly dial or text the number for a swift response of HPG personnel while conducting patrolling in a Mobile Car or Motorcycle. HPG4a is mandated to ensure the safety and security of all motorist and road users in the CALABARZON Region.
This proactive approach to passenger safety symbolizes an important step toward in the HPG4A's commitment through the leadership of PBGEN ALAN M NAZARRO, Director of the Highway Patrol Group, and in line with the thrust of the CPNP’s strategy of implementing aggressive and honest law enforcement to ensure the well-being of commuters and employees alike.
