DOST-CALABARZON in
partnership with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) once again takes the
lead in the certification of 22,194 Electoral Board (EB), previously called as Board
of Election Inspectors, in CALABARZON region for the upcoming 2019 May
elections.
A total of 34 certifiers
and 2 quick response teams composed of DOST-CALABARZON, DOST-PCAARRD, DOST-PCIEERD,
DOST-ASTI, and DOST Central Office staff will start on the certification of the
teachers on March 5 until March 16 for Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon and
until March 23 for Cavite.
The public school
teachers will undergo written and practical exam on the use of Vote Counting
Machine (VCM) to assess their readiness on the upcoming elections. They will be
first given a seminar and training on the proper operations of the VCM by the
COMELEC before the certification handled by DOST.
RA 9369 mandates
the DOST to oversee the certification of EBs trained by COMELEC in line with
the use of VCMs for the automated elections.
This is the fourth
time that DOST handled the EB certification. There will be more than 171,000 EBs
to be certified all over the country. (
