And that was it, from live selling, I was able to put up other businesses, rice retail stores, water stations, apartments, convenience store and restaurants. ” said Ms. Dapula. She is also set to open very soon another business in one of the malls in Alabang.
Ms. Dapula revealed to the press the story behind her alias, Ms. Awoo. “Awoo” was the word she used to shoo away her bogus basher frequenting her live selling stints. It becomes a habit then, making her followers to eventually call her by that name. But it was a blessing in disguise because this alias made her even more popular in the online selling world.
Ms. Awoo also shared how it was to work in the Middle East as an OFW, working longer hours without an overtime pay, she even experienced eating inside a comfort room. “An OFW’s life is very difficult, you sacrificed and endure loneliness, being miles apart from your loved ones, and yet you get a very mean salary just enough to pay your debts.”
With determination and hard work, she managed to step up and be her own boss. In three years’ time, with diverse businesses on her hand, Ms. Monaliza Dapula a.k.a. Ms. Awoo is now one of the most successful entrepreneur in Laguna. (Joel Cabactulan)
