In coordination with CDA’s 'Malasakit sa Kooperatiba’ initiative, Bong Go extends support to cooperatives in Laguna

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, in collaboration with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) and their 'Malasakit sa Kooperatiba’ initiative, extended support to cooperatives in Laguna. This effort came after his involvement in the 20th Kesong Puti Festival and distribution of aid to displaced workers.

The 'Malasakit sa Kooperatiba' event, held on Monday, April 15, in Sta. Cruz, Laguna, witnessed Senator Go and his team providing assistance to 23 cooperatives. Various forms of support were distributed, including sports equipment and shirts to 230 cooperative members. Additionally, through Go’s support, the CDA offered financial aid to eligible cooperatives to enhance their livelihood opportunities.

Senator Go emphasized the importance of hard work and responsible business practices in his message to the cooperatives. He encouraged them to utilize the resources wisely for the benefit of their families and communities, highlighting the significance of cooperative growth for community development.

Known for his compassionate service, Senator Go reiterated his full support for cooperatives and pledged to continue supporting their endeavors to improve livelihoods in communities.

The event was attended by CDA Undersecretary Joy Encabo, Governor Ramil Hernandez, Vice Governor Karen Agapay, and other officials.

Senator Go's commitment to cooperative development is reflected in his legislative efforts, such as co-authoring Republic Act No. 11502, which designates October as "National Cooperative Month," and RA 11535, which strengthens the cooperative movement by mandating the appointment of cooperative development officers in local government units.

As the Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Go has advocated for increased funding for the Cooperative Development Authority, reflected in the 2024 national budget's substantial support for CDA’s Human Capital Development Program for Cooperatives.

Earlier in April, Senator Go provided similar assistance to cooperatives in Quezon City, demonstrating his dedication to supporting this vital sector across various regions.

Expressing gratitude for the support and trust of the people, Senator Go reaffirmed his commitment to serving them, emphasizing his approachability and willingness to assist as a public servant.

On the same day, Senator Go also attended the 77th Founding Anniversary of the Philippine Red Cross in Quezon City, inaugurating a new chapter building and overseeing the mass oath-taking of new volunteers. Additionally, he provided assistance to fire victims in the city, showcasing his dedication to serving the community.
